3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering
The application of 3D scanning and reverse engineering has gained significant importance in the Marine industry recently due to challenging retrofitting project requirements such as retrofitting of Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) and Exhaust Gas Scrubbers (EGS).
3D Scanning is used to capture the as-built construction of vessels at the targeted areas for the installation BWMS and EGS. Such areas might include Engine Room Area, Pump Room, Main Deck and Funnel depending on BWMS / EGS system specifications and vessel types. The 3D scanned data provides the flexibility to vessel owners and designers to plan for placement of new equipments and associated components including routing of pipes.
ACE MARINE has successfully completed numerous retrofitting projects for all types and sizes of vessels which involved installation of various IMO and USCG approved systems. With Intrinsically safe as well as non-intrinsically safe 3D scanners positioned at strategic locations across the globe, we can undertake scanning at any ports worldwide on a short notice.
Our turn-key engineering package involves 3D scanning, generation of precise 3D modeling of existing vessel systems and structures, performance of an engineering feasibility study for chosen BWTS/EGS system installation, basic engineering design for Class approval, accurate detailed engineering design for production and project management support during actual installation at retrofitting yard.
3D scanning and generation of precise 3D models will help in producing accurate production designs which helps to achieve cost efficient retrofitting in minimum time by pre-production of piping spools and structural foundation even before the vessel reach retrofitting yard. The 3D models generated from 3D scan output will help to prevent errors and clash between the retrofit design and the ship's existing systems and structures..
The reverse engineering team of ACE MARINE GROUP consists of qualified and well experienced Naval Architects, Structural Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Piping Engineers, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers
We also undertake site supervision and project management activities to ensure that the installation and commissioning has been completed successfully.
